The Underdogs

This is a short game made for the Thinky Games Are For Everyone game jam!

It's slow and contemplative. I tried to capture what's it's like to have to make a hard choice, scanning through your memories, your ethos, anything to make the answer clear and easy. (Lofty goals for a week of work!)

There is only one 'puzzle' - the memory chart, but I wanted to try and present it as something the player wanted to do and not a chore.

All narrative is voice over, I wanted to provide closed captioning but, alas, I had loftier goals than the time limit allowed. Much of the narrative was also ad-libbed and not strictly scripted.

All made up names come from the conlang Toki Pona. I'm not a fluent speaker, so much of my pronunciation may be off - sorry!

It was made using Godot. Specifically Godot 3.3.3 because that's what I had installed - I did stumble upon lots of cool stuff from later releases though, so I'm excited to try that out!

I drew/painted all the art! I usually prefer to take my time, and this was a great exercise in letting myself let go a bit.

The narration is also me! It was a very cringey experience and I will likely never do it again, haha. Or if I do I'll make someone else QA!
